Review- The Guest List

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 4 stars ⁣

Synopsis from GoodReads:

The bride ‧ The plus one ‧ The best man ‧ The wedding planner ‧ The bridesmaid ‧ The body

On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine, or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

But perfection is for plans, and people are all too human. As the champagne is popped and the festivities begin, resentments and petty jealousies begin to mingle with the reminiscences and well wishes. The groomsmen begin the drinking game from their school days. The bridesmaid not-so-accidentally ruins her dress. The bride’s oldest (male) friend gives an uncomfortably caring toast.

And then someone turns up dead. Who didn’t wish the happy couple well? And perhaps more important, why?

My Thoughts-Spoiler Free

The story starts off with a murder and a body, then the story takes you back a few days and we meet the cast of possible killers. My favorite thing about mystery murders are the characters and wondering, are they one that dies, or is this the killer? I mean trying to solve the puzzle is the best part.

The thing about The Guest List is, you really can't figure out who the killer could be. But about halfway through I realized who was murdered and so I kept a close eye on our suspects. The author did a great job offering so many possibilities. Any one of these characters could have done it and then it became (for me) who do I want it to be more than anyone else.

The characters range from those you hate and despise, those you feel bad for and those you actually like. We go throughout the story in all of their POV's, which I think is the new thing about mystery murders today and I like it.

If you love mystery murders this book is one to pick up! I'm really looking forward to reading The Hunting Party!
